May the Fourth Be With You
We wanted to send out a big Thank You to all of you who participated in the May the Fourth Be with you event yesterday. Our final numbers are still pending but it looks like we had 150 registered runners/walkers/rollers and at least another 100 in attendance! 125 pretzels from the Philly Pretzel Factory (1063 S Main St, Centerville, OH 45458) and 130 cupcakes were consumed by our participants. 2 large bags of popcorn from Rave Cinemas Dayton South 16 (195 Mall Woods Dr, Dayton, OH 45449) were devoured as well. 140 hot dogs, 1 bottle of ketchup, 1/2 bottle of relish and only about a quarter bottle of mustard were eaten. Ryan Roth put on a great show as our musical talent with some great audience participation during Sweet Caroline!
Funds raised will be used to supply Parent Packs to Children's hospitals to benefit the parent/care-giver staying with a child experiencing an unplanned admission to the hospital. These packs include shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, fuzzy socks, a t-shirt, sweat pants/PJ pants, and a full sized blanket. The funds will also allow us to continue our anual Night of Giving during which we provide hand made ceramic windchimes to people who are experiencing a difficult time in their lives. Our "Ninja Angels" hang the wind chimes, under the cover of darkness, at locations that have been supplied to us by members of the community who have contacted us by email or on socail media. Our goal is to open a comprehensive life enhancement center for not only those with special needs but to also allow more typical individuals the opportunity to experience giving through volunteering.
